Fun in Forts

Call it brotherly love, call it survival mode, call it staying sane on a rainy day!  I call it fun!  The boys have been into building forts in the living room this month, and while it makes a rather large mess it's nice to see my boys playing together!  True, the 10 year old does most of the work but I think they both have fun!

They have gone from one room to 3 rooms...still working on making it just right~!

Sanity

I'm quickly reaching my breaking point,

My sanity is leaving me.

I've forgotten how hard parenting a toddler can be..

Jayden is busy.  He turns 2 in 9 days.  He is curious, he is fun loving he is in a word....EXHAUSTING!

The toddler after he spilled half a bottle of lotion all over himself and my kitchen!
Today, he went to my workday and staff meeting with me.  It was not a relaxing time during the meeting, and I really hope my coworker took good notes because I was not really paying attention.

We got in the car to come home and he fell asleep.  I thought I could transfer him to his bed...WRONG...he woke up and then hasn't napped since 12:40 this afternoon.  It's dinner time now and he is going strong.

I needed nap time today.  I needed quiet and peace and a moment to breathe....and I didn't get them.  I'm a little bit angry about it too.

I love my son, I do, he is a joy to my life and a lot of fun to be around.  He is also into everything.  I was working on dinner and turned around to find him standing on my kitchen table trying to get into the cake container to have a piece of leftover birthday cake!  ON THE TABLE???  WHY???

He is running around without a diaper, just pants, I know this because he keeps taking it off...might mean he is ready to potty train, might mean he likes freedom...probably means a mess for me to clean up soon...

See...  I am quickly losing my sanity...

I'm praying for wisdom, strength and sanity!  Also for ease in potty training!

My job as Mom....

I have the job of mom...and I have it over 2 very different ranges both with their joys and frustrations.

I have the job of raising soon to be teenagers...of balancing calendars and poking my nose in to their business and following them online.  Of making sure they are being responsible, it's my job to make sure they can make some meals, wash their clothes when dirty and pick up after themselves.  It's my job to listen to their woes, encourage their discouragements and desires, to nurture them into being self reliant.

In many ways they make this easy.

They can tell me if they are hungry, tired, what they want to eat.  They don't need me to take them potty or make sure that they put their socks on their feet the right way.  They sleep through the night and often go to bed without me telling them too.  It's easy in may ways.  It's like the promised land of parenting.  They can entertain themselves and if its quiet it doesn't turn on my alert memo, it may be that they are playing a game on the DS, reading a book or finding something to do that doesn't make noise...like building with tools or other things.  I also know that I can trust them. They have proven this to me and are proving it on a regular basis.

Then I have my other job as Mom...only here I'm known as MAMA.

The toddler....I forgot how much work one little person can be.  He cannot entertain himself for longer than 5 minutes and if he is quiet and I can't see him he can often be found drawing on a wall, pulling every single wipe out of the package or every tissue out of the box.  He also enjoys unrolling toilet paper and seeing what can be flushed...gotta remember to keep that door closed.  He is demanding yet doesn't have all the words to tell me what he wants or needs.  If he doesn't get his way he cries or whines and is trying to figure out what is going on.

He can't dress himself, he wears diapers, and prefers to run around naked!  He has no inhibitions yet!  His favorite word is NO!  He loves to laugh, cry and still doesn't sleep consistently through the night...he is in one word....exhausting!  I love him but WOW!

It's hard to have toddlers and soon to be teenagers.  Don't get me wrong I love my kids and I wouldn't trade them for anything but being a mom is hard work, being a mom to multiple ages is crazy!

Wordless Wednesday

This is Jayden's Favorite thing in the house to look at!  It's right over the changing table and he talks to it all the time!

Jaron gets a Haircut!

We Buzzed Jaron on Sunday Night! His hair was out of control and when I tried to trim it I made it worse and Dan couldn't take it anymore...So we got out the clippers and shaved him down! He looks much better now! I took a few pictures of the process of shaving his head!
Jaron half way through the job says..."Mom go get the camera...I look too funny!"
Once we were done Jaron grabbed his hair off the floor and was like...quick glue it back on!
He really isn't this upset...he was hamming it up for the camera...and then ran away before I could get a good picture of the finished product! Such a silly boy!

Noise

My kids are noisy...

They are either Loud or REALLY LOUD!

This poor baby is going to have to learn to sleep through lots of noise or they are going to have to learn to be quieter!

AUUUUGHHH!

That's my Girl!

Jaron is wanting to put up Christmas stuff. He so wants to set up the tree and decorate.

Well, this momma doesn't put up Christmas stuff until THANKSGIVING is Over...so we will wait until the end of the month and then put up our Christmas decorations.

Jaron goes to Janea and says..."Hey, you wanna put up Christmas Stuff?"

She replies" Are you kidding...it's not even Thanksgiving yet!"

That's my girl! I love it!

Oh how we Laugh

Homework is my least favorite thing to do with my kids...I hate it.

Last night, Jaron did not want to do his homework. He wanted to watch TV and have it magically finish itself. Well, I don't believe in magic and I won't do it for him so we sat together and finished it.

The whole time Janea and I are making up silly songs for Jaron as he completes his work. And he laughed...he has this big belly laugh that makes the whole world smile! He laughed, and laughed and laughed and hour later all the work was completely done...

It would have gotten done faster without the laughter but we all had so much fun just hanging out together that I relish the time!

My sides hurt from laughing so hard!

A weird conversation

"Mom?"

"Yes, Jaron?"

"What Color am I?"

"Your white, just like me."

"Not too white right?"

"No, your just the right amount of white."

"Good...that's what I thought...."

End of conversation...back to business as usual.

Mom,Mom, Mom, Mom

Can I have it?

can I go across the street?

Can you get this for me?

Do I have to?

I don't want too.

Can I have a break?

I'm not going to...?

Who you talking to?

Aren't you done yet?

I love you!

Your the bestest mom in the world.

Just a sampling of some of the stuff my kids have been saying this week... The last two are my favorites!

A Picture's Worth a Thousand Words.

Right after I snapped this photo...Jaron caught me and said"Mom, why do you always take my picture when I am doing something crazy?"

I love my son but he does some interesting things! He spent at least 5 minutes playing with the side mirror of my car after we got home from going out for dinner last night!

Dart Boy

My folks got Jaron a dart gun for Christmas...well it's made a reappearance this week. It had disappeared for a while but now it's back...and here's how it's been used this week:

*flyswatter...Jaron spent at least 15 minutes aiming at a fly on our front door today.

* Daddy slayer...then he had to deal with Daddy shooting it back at him

* giggle inducer...giggling insues as the kids shoot the gun back and forth.

Its rather fun to watch as long as I am not in the line of fire!

Silly Boy

Today Jaron wanted a piece of leftover pizza. Together we put it on a plate, and put the plate in the microwave and hit the 30 sec. button. When the microwave beeps...Jaron grabs the pizza and tells me he needs a plate! I looked at him and said...silly boy....you left your plate in the microwave...oops!

My little Baldy

My darling son...the crazy little person he is...decided that he needed to trim chunks of his hair off at school.

So we had to buzz him again....I didn't really think he had that much hair!

The small pieces are everywhere! It's so sad it's comical!

Craziness in Practice

I walked in the living room to find that Jaron had put his coat on his legs. One of the joys of motherhood.

Overheard...

the kids were in the living room and here is what I heard...

Jaron: "I have more sence than you!"

I went in to find out and Janea was counting the money in her piggy bank! Jaron has more coins(cents) then she does!

This is what happens...

when you turn your back for a few minutes. The kids decided they needed to decorate themselves with ink...they so need to go back to school...too much time on their hands!

If I wasn't laughing already I would be laughing even harder!

Creativity in Action

The kids are working on inventions....I don't know what they are going to be good for but they sure are working together to create stuff! I will post pictures tomorrow when we perform our experiments! I love the way they work together, help each other and bounce ideas back and forth! Right now we have used plastic, cardboard, paper, tape and I think water will be added to these inventions!
